I think, like Brady's sudden non-stop charm offensive on twitter, it's a misguided attempt at 'taking control of the narrative.'

I saw the stadium plan with a straight not curved front to the lower bowl and it looks superb

There was never any official plan that had a straight lower front tier. You probably saw some amateur mock up. It can be straightened (and the expense of losing the joined up seating in the mid tier and more gaps) but it's night impossible to square a circle perfectly.

...and they truly must think that former West Ham players idiots too?

Ive not got any plans to come to the UK until this coming xmas. Hoping the fixture gods will smile on me and we'll be at home while I am.

I'll reserve judgement until ive seen the place for myself but people I respect either on here or mates I used to go with at Upton Park have said to a man they dont like it & are on the fence for a season ticket renewal.

I saw the stadium plan with a straight not curved front to the lower bowl and it looks superb, for the life of me i cant understand why they just dont do that, put claret and blue seats in and boom its home.

The board have got alot of work on their hands to win the majority over

Perhaps not then.

Re: The shambles of our new ground
They haven't said anything, nor have the done anything so I think it is obvious isn't it?

Also, it ain't their ground to do anything with anyway. THAT was one of the main reasons for them move for them, not having to pay operating costs instead pay a rent.

They tried to weasel out of contributing for claret and blue seats, do you really think they're going to start coughing up for other things?

lowlife 11:14 Mon Jan 9
Re: The shambles of our new ground
Have they said they intend to do nothing about it or is that just implied by their actions so far?

Re: The shambles of our new ground
Why would they give a commitment to do something about the stadium when they have no intention of doing anything about the stadium?

Re: The shambles of our new ground
Have our owners ever admitted any mistakes with the design of the stadium? I don't recall anything and haven't really looked into it in any detail.

If they haven't made any statement I think they could appease us a bit with a few words and a commitment to do something about it.

Re: The shambles of our new ground
There was a post on kumb a few weeks back, from someone who'd spoken to an opposition player after their game at the LS. Wish I could remember who it was. And apparently they said it was the worst stadium they'd ever played in. Nice pitch, but totally disconnected from the crowd. Preventing us from getting any home benefit from playing there.

Re: The shambles of our new ground
That piece is great but the board made it very clear they would have a team/squad that befits our new home.So far i've seen ALL PL visiting teams befitting the stadium and even Hull did but got cheated out of a win, our team hasn't been improved upon and was way off befitting the new stadium before any of us set foot in it.

These journalists need to read up on what these 3 are spouting off before giving judgement on how our support views it's former home compared to the new one.

Remember A TEAM THAT BEFITS THE OLYMPIC STADIUM.Our current team was perfect for our previous home.

The club liked that article so much they've reprinted it on the official site. No joke.

Re: The shambles of our new ground
I think my biggest fear is our Home Ground ends up being like Wembley.

Having followed England home and away years for a few years, buying tickets at Wembley was essential on getting caps to get to the matches at the major tournys. Multiple times unable to flog on the tickets I've gone.

England often win comfortably, but it doesn't change the atmosphere. The middle tier being corporate "Club Wembley" stops any real noise being generated.

Whilst the arduous task of queuing in and out of Wembley Park before and after makes you question why you actually bother.

Now I know England don't often set the world alight with the way they play, but honestly how often will West Ham either?

Regardless, I'll still go to West Ham home games.. probably in the hope each time it's like a one off playoff final or something changes my view on the place but I can't see it without drastic change and I just can't see our owners sticking their necks out to do it.

Sounds like they are struggling getting stewards in the place never alone a core reason for applying is to be WHU fan...

Re: The shambles of our new ground
Before the Man City match we were stood with about 10 kids from my son's U13s team, two of whom supported West Ham, others various assorted teams... I'd given them all strict instructions that they were to "support" West Ham for the evening.

A steward came over to speak to us and to be fair to him was very friendly but was sharing how he supports Man City. If I can instruct a bunch of 13 year olds to keep their allegiances to themselves then surely the company employing the stewards can do the same.

I know it's a small thing, and I know plenty of stewards at Upton Park weren't West Ham, but I just found it annoying and the way he was talking was basically putting down West Ham.

Re: The shambles of our new ground
Even if we had won every home game this season I would still dislike being seemingly unwelcome at our new ground, the restricted access routes to and from it, the stupid fucking stop and go boards, the fact that it is taking longer to get in with every game, the lack of atmosphere and the overpriced food and drink.

After 5 months do we really still need, did we ever need, some goon stood at the exit to Stratford station holding a big sign that say Westfield left and Stadium right?

It has been designed and built in an area, and is stewarded for people to attend once a year in the summer rather than on average every other week throughout the winter.

Whilst the move is a factor regarding our poor home form, like Arsenal and Southampton did we will have to adapt as there no alternative.

1964... since Oct' the only Turkey away game was Everton in which we never showed up... apart from that...

Palace... 1-0... easily the better team
Spurs ... 2-3.... crazy result but played really well
Man U ... 1-1 ... another excellent display
Liverpool ....2-2... see man U
Swansea .... 4-1... a thrashing
Leicester... 0-1... we was easily the better team...

Our performances home and away are chalk'n'cheese...

Re: The shambles of our new ground
What I don't understand about the seating in the West, BML and TBL is as they are not retractable, why not just have a straight lower tier instead of curved and bought everyone as close to the action as the corners.

It doesn't make any sense unless the seats were to go back in athletics mode. It could have easily seen us get the lower closer to the upper tiers as well. Obviously the east is slightly different as it (almost) touches the upper tier at the back.
